Warning

This helmet is designed for bicycle riding. It is not intended for any type of motor sport activity or use in any motor vehicle. No helmet can protect the user against all possible impacts. Before using, ensure the light is functioning and the helmet is properly fitted and fastened securely with the strap.

For maximum protection, the helmet must be fitted and attached properly to the user's head in accordance with the manufacturer's fitting instructions and all retention straps must be correctly and securely fastened.

The helmet lighting function requires two CR2032 batteries which must be installed as instructed below. It is recommended that a spare set of batteries are carried at all times. The lighting on this helmet should be regarded as supplementary to, and not a replacement for, the lighting on the bicycle.

Product warranty will be voided if any modifications are made to the product other than to change the batteries.

WARNING!: The lighting on this Helmet cannot be used as a replacement for statutory lights and reflectors on bicycles; and if you suffer from the effects of flickering or flashing lights then medical opinion should be sought before using this Helmet.

NB: The outer casing of the Haloglow Helmet Light Box must only be removed by an authorized Haloglow Helmet service agent.

How to custom fit the Haloglow Bicycle Helmet

To ensure a proper fit, look in a mirror and gently rotate the helmet on your head front to back and side to side, noticing the skin in the brow area. If the fit is comfortable and the skin moves with the helmet, a proper fit has been accomplished. If not, the helmet is too loose. The helmet should be worn level on the head with the front approximately one inch above your eyebrow.

How to fit the Helmet straps

To ensure a proper fit, look in a mirror and gently rotate the helmet on your head front to back and side to side, noticing the skin in the brow area. If the fit is comfortable and the skin moves with the helmet, a proper fit has been accomplished. If not, the helmet is too loose. The helmet should be worn level on the head with the front approximately one inch above your eyebrow.

How to fit the Haloglow Bicycle Helmet straps

With the helmet level on your head, fasten all straps securely so the straps provide equal tension. The retention straps and helmet should fit as snug as possible. With the helmet on, fastened securely, try to roll the helmet backwards and forwards as far as possible. The helmet should not be able to be removed from your head or rolled backwards or forwards to expose the forehead or obscure vision. If a proper fit cannot be achieved do not wear the helmet.

All adjustments should be checked each time the helmet is worn, making sure the fit is snug at all times.

How to turn ON & OFF the Haloglow Bicycle Helmet light

You can turn the helmet light ON by pushing the button located on the Light Box at the back of the helmet and holding down for two seconds, to give a continuous stream of light from the optical fiber on the helmet. The light can be switched between continuous and flashing mode by pushing the button again without holding down.

You can turn the helmet light OFF when the light is in continuous or flashing mode by pushing on the button on the Light Box and holding down for two seconds.

It is recommended that the helmet light is only switched ON while riding at night or in poor light conditions to conserve battery power and it also is recommended that you carry a spare set of batteries at all times.

How to replace the batteries in the Light Box

Important Information

  1. You will need a suitable size cross headed screw driver.
  2. Loosen the screw on the battery compartment door by turning in anti-clockwise direction until you can open and remove the door. (Note: the screw should remain fixed to the battery door).
  3. Now, remove the two old batteries by gently pushing down on them until they pop up, then extract them from the battery compartment and dispose of them safely. NB: Always replace both batteries at same time.
  4. Insert two new (CR2032) batteries into the battery slots in the battery compartment and gently push down to ensure they are properly in place.
NB: Please ensure that batteries are properly aligned so that for the top battery the positive face is upwards BUT for the bottom
battery the positive face is downwards..
  5. Test that the lighting is working by switching on as above before replacing the battery compartment door. Switch off the lighting.
  6. Place the battery door back into position so the screw is properly aligned and turn the screw in clockwise direction until it is tight

N.B. On this version of the HALOLIGHT Helmet two CR2032 batteries are usually already installed in the battery compartment.

Caring for your Haloglow Bicycle Helmet

Use mild soap and water to clean the product but do not immerse in water or any liquid. Do not use substances such as petrol, paint, adhesives or cleaning agents, as they will damage the integrity of the helmet. Do not store near heat or direct sunlight. This product uses two CR2032 batteries which can be replaced by opening the screw on the battery compartment door.

How to secure the visor to the Haloglow Bicycle Helmet

If a visor is provided with your helmet then this can be secured by placing the visor in position over the front of the helmet and locating the two fixing modules on the inside of visor over the fixing holes and gently pressing on top of the visor above the modules until they click into place in the holes. The fixing ridge at the front of the visor can then be clipped over the optical fiber at the front of the helmet to secure the visor in place.

To remove the visor you must first ease out the fixing modules from the helmet until they pop out of the fixing holes. The fixing ridge at the front of helmet can then be unclipped and the visor removed and stored safely until is needed again.

Warning!: It is recommended that the visor is not used on the helmet during night time or poor lighting conditions so as not to impair the light coming from the optical fiber at the front of the helmet.

Important Additional Information

  • This helmet is not for use by persons who cannot comfortably support the helmets weight. Children under the age of 3 years should be evaluated by a pediatrician to verify adequate neck musculature before using this helmet.
  • This helmet is not designed for motor sport use.
  • Not designed for multiple impacts. Impact can cause unseen damage to the helmet. Return helmet to store for inspection, and if necessary, replacement after accident, or destroy helmet and replace.
  • Use of cleaning solvents, paints and abrasive chemicals can cause unseen damage to the helmet and reduce the helmet's capability for helmet protection.
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures can cause unseen damage to your helmet. If damaged the helmet should be returned for inspection, and if necessary replaced, or destroy helmet and replace.
  • Fasten all retention straps securely. If a proper fit cannot be achieved do not wear helmet.
  • This helmet provides no protection to parts of the body that it does not cover directly.

NB: This bicycle helmet is designed to absorb the energy of one impact. If this occurs the helmet should be sent for inspection and if necessary replacement, or destroyed and replaced. Damaged helmets should not be used again unless examined and passed fit for future use.

Barring a significant impact, the life span of a helmet will depend upon the length and frequency of its use. Like other safety devices, a bicycle helmet needs to be replaced over time. We recommend evaluating your helmet after three years of use.
